I see a lot of entrepreneurs falling into this trap of emulating these big brands and setting up their social media profiles with thoughtfully designed logos, branded images and copy.
This approach may have once worked for these big brands run by corporate entities. However in this new digital age, customers are looking for real connection and this where you have the big advantage as an entrepreneur, thought leader or small business. You have a big advantage over the big boys but you have to stop hiding behind your brand. Keep reading to learn more...
Just in case you haven't noticed here are the #5 signs you are hiding behind your brand and your customers see you as missing in action.
- Your Social Media Avatars (you know the profile pic) is of your logo.
- Your cover photos are about your brand only, no sign of you.
- Social Media Accounts- We can't tell or don't know who the owner is of your brand from your pics
- Content- all the copy is about the brand, no mention of you.
- Website- once again no mention of you.
Okay so lets not go overboard on making your brand self-centric. There is a balance that must be met that includes sharing your brand, your story, yourself.

I am not saying that you are to go an extreme where everything is about you, but I do recommend that a great way to get your brand back on track for success is to have your social media avatars be a picture of you. And here's why.... People do business with people. There are many advantages in this new digital age of becoming a face to your brand and if that's uncomfortable perhaps you can consider being a facet on a multi-facted diamond that makes up your brand.
